Alterations by Mary
Mary offers expert alterations, with a focus on bridal and formal wear. Drawing on her experience working with hundreds of brides, she is able to adjust sizes up or down, bustle and hem gowns, and add or change details. The result is a ready-to-wear garment that looks and feels truly “custom-made.”
Here are some FAQs about alterations:
Do I need an appointment?
Yes, please call the office to schedule. I am available evenings, and on Saturdays if needed.
How much time do you need to alter my gown?
Please allow two to eight weeks, depending on the gown style.
How long will the first fitting take?
Most fittings take 30-45 minutes for gowns, less for other garments.
How many fittings are required?
One to three fittings for bridal gowns, and usually one for bridesmaids’ gowns.
How much will the alterations cost?
A fit fee of $20 for the time spent at the initial fitting/consultation plus fees for each task to be completed. A price list is posted in the dressing room, and you will receive a firm quote before the work begins. If you have questions, feel free to contact Mary.
What do I bring with me to the first appointment?
You should bring proper undergarments to be worn with the garment, as well as shoes with the correct heel height for hem changes.
