Tailor Perfect

Don’t let that phrase scare you —tailoring is simply using skills you already have, but in a particular way. In this hands-on class, you will learn how to stitch two classic tailoring techniques: a welt pocket with just five stitch lines, and a pair of bound buttonholes with unique variations. We will also include tips on how to stitch a lining as well as other tailoring details. Knowing how to sew these design details will boost your confidence and improve your sewing skills.

Learn how bias can be functional as well as decorative in a variety of details as well as entire garments. Learn how to alter a pattern to work with the bias grain line of your fabric, as well as tips about how to fit, cut and sew them, and how the right fabric can give you beautiful, unique results.

Mary works with each student to identify how your body type varies from a basic pant sloper. You will learn how to make changes to your pattern before you cut and sew plus tips for sewing darts, waistband, fly front zipper and other pant details.
